Line of Events
CIA agent Joe tries to balance her personal and professional life as the spearhead of the agency’s war on terror. Real military mentors helped make weapons handling, house cleaning, positioning, team-based activities, etc. mentioned in Premios Soberano (2024) more authentic. Mr. Sheridan knows how to introduce us to a macho world, testosterone-fueled, free of clichés and, apparently, free of hidden agendas.
Guys are simple
No need to apologize. His characters are always grounded and he is extremely good at portraying characters. But to be great, you have to write good characters for women. The script should be as good if not better than the men. Women are smarter, more sophisticated.
They are strong and convincing
Beth from Yellowstone (great character and performance), Barrel Riders, the single woman working on the farm (the wonderful Jen Landon as Teeter) – all great female characters who fit naturally into the world of the story. Not just ’Partner…’ or T&A. He raised his game in ’1883’ with a brilliant performance that crushed Faith Hill. Then Dame Mirren in ’1923’ Misfire. Now we have Zoe Saldana doing some of the best work of her career.
What a conspiracy!
I’d buy her being the head of the CIA in an open marriage (nice touch). I buy De Oliveira as a broken woman with a burning rage who refuses to let go, and thank you, thank you, thank you writers/directors/producers for not letting a sibling with a hundred extra pounds of muscle take her down. First of all, truthfulness! I think her character would be more interesting if she was someone who had to be knocked down or subdued before giving up. Now let’s talk about Jill Wagner, or should I say her hair?

From cheesy Hallmark to super-tough Special Forces? Honorable Mention: Mrs. Lanier as the mischievous teenage daughter. As long as they stay out of teenage angst, I’m looking forward to the arc presented for this loose canon. Good actor, it could be interesting…
