The woman was actually Janie Moore, with whom Lewis lived until 1949
Lewis is shown researching the Gospels while being called to bed by a woman who appears to be his wife. This film takes place in 1939, but Lewis did not marry Joy Davidman Gresham until 1956. [last lines] Sigmund Freud: By error after error, one discovers the whole truth..

As a fan of Lewis’ work (though far from an expert on it), I was very interested to see this film.
I wish the script had been a little stronger
Although the intended audience is probably 30 years older than me, I still quite enjoyed it. The performances by Hopkins and Goode really carry the film. Normally, I have issues with films that use a lot of flashbacks to tell the story, but here it was done in such a way that it was purposeful and not distracting or disorienting.
Overall, I liked the film and would watch it again
There were a couple of scenes that seemed to trail off rather than have a much-needed emphatic response, mainly from Lewis.
