Maria Callas: Book me a table at a bar where the waiters know who I am
Maria Callas, the world’s greatest opera singer, lives out the last days of her life in 1970s Paris, while grappling with her identity and her life. Angelina Jolie and director Pablo Larraín discuss how they approached the heartbreaking true story of famed opera singer Maria Callas. The third and final film in Pablo Larraín’s so-called ”Lady in Heels” trilogy of female-led biopics, following Jackie (2016) and Spencer (2021).

It just felt fake
I really wanted to like this movie, but there was no way my brain was going to convince me that Angelina Jolie was an opera singer. Even in the opening scene I couldn’t convince myself that she was the one singing. I don’t know why these producers didn’t take a chance on a real opera singer?
The script wasn’t that interesting
Or at least someone on Broadway who could convince us. There should have been so much more to say about this amazing woman. Some people said the story was weak and I agree.
Not even her accent worked for me
On the bright side, I loved the clothes and the sets.. "One Hundred Years of Solitude" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month. Check out our December calendar for more!
