An Iranian-American trans man travels back in time to an LGBTQ+ archive to understand his sexuality. He confronts his past and present on an erotic journey of self-discovery. The film’s portrayal of identity, gender, and understanding one component of the queer community is powerful and deeply moving. It’s relatable. as the interviewees discuss the securities and challenges of being new and different within an already established community. The insights presented about the risks faced by the community felt eye-opening, but not in the traditional sense. I felt like the stories in this film showed me how to focus on things that were hidden in plain sight. I highly recommend this movie. By learning about those around us, we learn more about ourselves. I definitely got an education from this film.
